Embarking on a new adventure

On October 9th, after over a year of looking, we purchased the farm. As many of you know, or don't know, its been a dream of ours to start a farm for some time now. We found a beautiful property in Larkspur, CO. It's 35 acres and has two homes on it, one of them a historic farmstead. More on that in a later post! Garlic needs to be planted in late October here in Colorado, so there is no time to lose. The land is raw here and has never been farmed. We will be adding compost and organic material to the soil before planting. Next year, we will have time to go a little slower and utilize cover crops. It's been busy here between trying to get moved in with the two boys, getting the garlic field situated during the days and popping garlic in the evenings. Oh, and we bought five goats and a llama!
